The sink stoppers either do not open properly or do not close and there comes the problem. If it does not opened fully, it will not drain the wastage water clearly. Hence small unwanted things might get clogged into the drain. If the problem continues and if you do not know how to fix sink stopper, it becomes absolutely unusable. In many cases it has been seen that the problem is caused due to faulty connections.

There are two main components which make the sink stopper. The first one is the pull up or push down rod or the stopper or the lift rod which opens and closes by lifting mechanism, the other one is vertical rod pierced by holes called clevis. The pivot is attached to it in the end, thus helping the stopper to function properly.

Fixing a sink stopper is a very difficult job. You can do it very easily, all by yourself. Firstly, you need to buy the correct stopper, according to your sink. Then following simple and easy steps, you can quickly fix up the stopper and then adjust sink stopper according to your desire. If you have a sink stopper already fixed, then you can take that out and replace it with a new one. With the help of pliers, you can use a wrench to remove the pop up lever. After that, you can let the water drain out of the pipe. Then on further adjustment, the tail piece of the stopper would loosen and can be taken out now.

Since you are fixing a new stopper, then you can also replace the old strainer with a new one. Then you can fix the tail piece into the strainer and adjust it properly with the screws. Then you can tighten the compression screws and fix up the things in place. After this, insert the new drain lever and fix it. Then drop the stopper in to the sink hole. Test it once or twice to check whether it is working or not. You can later make sink stopper adjustments if required.

So, fixing up a sink stopper is not difficult at all. It is very useful to know how to fix up sink stoppers. It prevents extra expenses.
