If you are planning to renovate and smarten up your kitchen, bathroom, powder room or bar counters it is best to use either marble and granite countertops. Although they may be a bit expensive compared to other options like formica and wood laminates, the eye-catching appeal of marble and granite countertops durability and elegance more than compensates for the cost.

The natural colors and designs of marble and granite countertops cover such a wide spectrum they easily complement any house’s architectural design.

Maintenance-wise, marble and granite countertops do not require special care compared to wood and formica laminates which are easily damaged by heat and knife cuts.

Keeping your marble and granite countertop looking new requires very little effort. Applying a thin coat of automotive paste was to granite and polishing it to a shine is all that is necessary while marble stains can easily be cleaned with sprinkled salt on a freshly cut lemon or soap and water. Avoid leaving water on marble surfaces as water spots can develop. Always clean with soap and water and wipe dry with a soft cloth to avoid damaging the marble.

Granite and marble were originally used for constructing the pyramids of Egypt and the Taj Mahal of India, two of the Seven Wonders of the World. Using marble and granite countertops definitely enhances the charm and appeal of you abode.

Although marble is not impervious to certain chemicals it definitely makes a statement of stylishness when used as floors, walls, tub liners, counter tops and table tops. It even gets more beautiful with age.

When installing marble and granite countertops, it is best to have experiences craftsmen do the installation. Although you can order custom cuts and shapes, your best bet is to have the stone cutters do the installation as it requires special skills and experience to put in.
